Healthy Smiles...
What a fantastic field trip we had to the St. Clair College Dental Clinic. The students had a fun morning of learning many important things about dental health, and many students had a check up and cleaning. The state of the art facilities are beautiful. Thanks again to St. Clair College for the opportunity to visit!

Magical Music Monday...
Our newest inquiry focuses on space, the International Space Station and Com. Chris Hadfield. Although his mission on the I.S.S. is drawing to a close, the students have been captivated by his time in space and are excited to learn more about space daily.
On Monday, we participated in a once in a lifetime opportunity. Along with 600,000 other Canadian school children, we sang with Com. Hadfield!! We learned the song he wrote with Ed Robertson, called I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing). We watched a live webcast and sang along with Com. Hadfield while he is still in space. It was amazing to participate in such a great event. Music Monday tries to bring awareness to the importance of music in schools and our education system.
There are so many questions and topics the students are wondering about in regards to space. We are discovering more every day. We can't wait to share our learning with you!

iPad Learning...
We are lucky to have 20 new iPads at Dougall. We were one of the first classes to use them, and the students have been having a lot of fun learning how to use them. We are currently learning how to use the program called Explain Everything. We have been working in partners to learn how to create different slides using different tools on the screen. We have also learned how to "mirror" our iPads, which means we can show our work up on the SmartBoard so the entire class can see our work. Once we are more comfortable with the program, we will be using Explain Everything share our learning about different topics. We can't wait!

Growing Gardeners...
We had a remarkable time working with the Growing Gardeners program once again this year. Miss Amber and Miss Anna are University of Windsor students who were working with the Ready! Set! Go! community agency. They visited us once a week for six weeks and taught the students about healthy eating, container gardening and environmental stewardship.
Each visit, they would have the students sing, dance, read them stories, have a focus lesson and then the students would each plant. How many of your seedlings are still growing?
The students loved each visit and learned so much. Thank you Miss Amber and Miss Anna!

100 Days Smarter
(My apologies - due to some technical difficulties, this post is much delayed.)
We had a wonderful time celebrating the 100th day of school in February. We started counting school days on the first day of school in September. Back then, it seemed so far away. We've had such a fun and exciting year, we couldn't believe the 100th day came so quickly. We did many wonderful activities, all focused on the number 100. Take a peek at our 100th day...
We ate some "100" snacks...
The students did a great job. Only heart 28 was not found (we are still looking for it!) :)
Lucas helped us enjoy a 100 day poem he had at home!

The students created special 100 day hats to wear...
On the SMARTBoard - we read 100 words...
Even our DPA (Daily Physical Activity) time focused on the number 100. Please forgive the blurry photos. The students were moving, dancing and jumping so fast, they were a blur! :)
When the students returned from lunch, they noticed some chocolate hearts hiding around the classroom. They had the challenge of finding, and then sequencing all 100 hearts.
The students did a great job. Only heart 28 was not found (we are still looking for it!) :)

The students had a lot of fun and learned a lot as well. We can't wait to see what fun lies ahead for the rest of the school year!
